I must admit I am an avid Vogue reader. I haven’t missed an issue of the Greek edition since it first came out in March 2000. OK, I exaggerate here a bit, because I lost a great deal of issues when I studied in the UK for my master’s degree - but then again whenever I came back home at holidays, or whenever someone came for Greece I ordered the last issue!! And whenever I am abroad I usually stock up on international issues as well (American, UK and German Editions – damn! I have to learn more foreign languages).

Most of my friends and colleagues (apart from my fashion design schoolmates) aren’t that fashion oriented, so they cannot understand what do I find so interesting in that magazine, as they (and I) not only cannot afford the clothes pictured, but also cannot relate to haute couture (let’s face it, we do not attend cocktail parties or charity balls and such dresses are unnecessary for our wardrobe).

But hey, I like fashion and I still dream of becoming a fashion designer and Vogue is the only magazine which I can find inspiration through its fashion editorials, which are photographed by renowned as well as up-and-coming photographers as well as keep up-to-date with new trends and (most important) new faces. I have to admit that most of my fashion related knowledge comes from Vogue and information that I find basic (e.g. who introduced that safari suit it fashion - its Yves Saint Laurent by the way) even my schoolmates didn’t know of. Despite the fact that Vogue lacks practical tips and tricks about make-up, pampering, diet and fitness, I still find it the most interesting magazine to read!

Vogue isn’t only about fashion; it is more about style in general, whether that concerns clothes, houses, decoration or lifestyle. It is about beautiful people (not only in appearance), beautiful clothes, beautiful life…We may not reach the status of the rich and famous celebrities/models/singers/actors, but who doesn’t want a bit of glamour in his/her life? And for me Vogue is just about that!
