The half-eaten Apple temptation strickes again…
So the 14th of October has come and gone, and brought a new Macbook (and macbook pro)... Well, for the design consious, it is simply stunning. All metal design, glass black framed screen and some real processing power.
Much like the Air really which I currently own. The problem is... The little Apple bug has bitten me again and I am so close to indulge to the new Macbook. A quick look on ebay revealed that I can expect about £700 for my current Macbook Air, which is not bad... So the gap to the new Macbook is not that high anyway, just £300, or half a months savings.
Should I indulge... Hm...
Some photos of the "bug"
Pasta Hut
So I hear you say. Pasta Hut? What is that? In the midst of the credit crunch and financial breakdown you are excused not to know. Our loved and hated brand, Pizza Hut is transformed into Pasta Hut.
What a week…
What a week...
Monday: Sick with flu after the weekend.
Tuesday- Wednesday: overtime to transition to another team member as I was expected to complete my current role on Monday. The US bailout plan was rejected.. Economies around the world plummeted.
Thursday: Roll off just got cancelled! Well it does make sense, but I was really looking forward to this new role... Plus I had to change and rebook tickets for the weekend... Money well spent (????)
Friday: After spending the week frantically reading about the credit crunch, and planning the transfer of my savings to euros, the crunch knocked on my door. A scary email arrived... XXX% downsizing planned for the next couple of months....
So tell me.. How worse can it get? But as we all know:
Life is like a pendulum. It will swing back eventually!
London by night
It's been a while since the last time I went out for a drink in West London.. So Saturday seemed the best opportunity to revisit familiar places and catch up with old friends, which unfortunatelly I haven't seem for a while.. So after the best dinner ever at Gaucho's it was a short walk in leicester square followed drinks in Jewel and clubbying till late at Paper..
Looking forward for a re-run!!!

Its time for overtime…
Going back home from work? Most people are crammed in the tubes, standing on the trains, sweating on the busses... But no, not me....
Think that's late? Nope.. I've seen worse than that
. Last Friday saw me coming home after 22:00 and occasionally not even returning at all, just getting a room in a random hotel and sleeping next to the office, as the last train has gone. As one of my colleagues pointed out, people in our profession tend to forget what normal working hours are like. Wierd but true. Leaving work at 19:00 seemed normal, while leaving at 17:30 seems like working half day. Going out on a weekday seems nearly impossible when you are the man on the critical path.
On the bright side, its not always like that. There will definitely be times where nothing's happening in the office and the occasional day to work from home.
It took me some time to realise, but there is one thing that you must learn in consulting:
Appreciate and make the most of the down-time that you might have.. Because it wont last for long...
Being sick…
Its been a long time since the last time I was sick. It was back in India, April 2008. But time has come and for no obvious reason (maybe it was a stressful week...?), I was down with fever for the last 4 days... Fever was bad, however, the "memories of India" that flashed back this morning were far worse.... Being stuck in the house for 3 days makes you realise how small the internet really is, and how much boring TV can get... Come on flu! I've taken your best shot, now its MY turn..
And as usual, Monday morning and everything will be fine!
PS. On the bright side, Autumn arrangements are almost booked!
Friday is here..!
Friday is here and after a long time I'm enjoying the pleasures of working from home! Work is less busy today, important deliverables are completed on time, so a toned down day is well deserved
. Some work, a cold Frappe, trendy clips on MTV and nice home-made food make up for a perfect start to a weekend. Just hope next week doesn't come quickly
By the way! There is nothing to watch on the TV on a Friday afternoon... So watch the below

iPhone Security Hole….
I recently stumbled upon an article claiming to have found a security flaw in the new iPhone 2.01 and 2.02 software. Being sceptical to start with, I gave it a try... I was amazed to see that it is actually true!
Steps to recreate:
- Set in the Settings -> General -> Passocode lock to enabled. This should lock the screen with a password and forbid any unauthorised access.
- In Settings -> General -> Home Button, select Phone Favourites. When the home button is double clicked, the phone Favourites are displayed.
- Sleep the phone and wake it up. Slide to Unlock. Click on emergency call and double click on the Home button. WHAT! The phone favourites are displayed! Select to view details of a person and click on text messages. WHAT AGAIN! I can read, send and delete any message I want! Click on e-mail and you just got access to my corporate email!
So, what is the sollution? Set the Settings -> General -> Home Button to Home Screen. That will disable the security hole...
Well done Apple on this one...........
